About Lantern Grove · 关于此游戏

A calm logic puzzle about placing lanterns

Lantern Grove is a free browser logic puzzle in the family of Star Battle and Akari. The goal is simple: place one lantern in every row, every column, and every colored garden. The constraint that makes it interesting — lanterns cannot touch, not even diagonally. Twenty hand-tuned gardens ramp from a gentle 5×5 dawn to larger grids that require genuine deduction. There is no timer, no streak, and no account. You play until the garden is lit, then close the tab.

Rules

  • Place exactly one lantern in each row.
  • Place exactly one lantern in each column.
  • Place exactly one lantern in each colored garden.
  • Lanterns cannot touch — not even diagonally.

How to play

  1. Tap any square to place your first lantern.
  2. Each row, column, and colored garden needs exactly one lantern — tap again to remove one.
  3. Switch to Mark mode to cross out cells you know must stay empty.
  4. Red lights break a rule — move them before finishing.
  5. Light every garden to complete the grove and unlock the next.

Tips

  • Start from rows or columns with the fewest open cells — they pin a lantern first.
  • Mark every cell touching a placed lantern, including diagonals — none of them can hold another.
  • A garden that spans a single row forces that row's lantern into itself.
  • The diagonal rule is strict: corner-touching lanterns still break the puzzle.
  • If you get stuck, restart and try a different first placement rather than guessing.
